Today I brought all my propeller parts to Vamdrup, to have them inspected and tested.
\nI started checking all the required diameters and bores…

Everything was within limits.
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A lot of parts needs to be checked for cracks, the steel parts using Mangaflux inspections and the alloy parts using flourecent penetrant.
\nAs with the engine, my good friend and engine specialist Vasu, helped me getting the testing done. He is a certified NDT inspector as well.<\/p>\n

Here are all the steel parts ready for mangnaflux.

Mangaflux test is done by magnetizing the parts, which will attract flourecent particles that will clearly indicate any cracks.
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The alloy part are tested using fluorescent penetrant.
\nFirst they are covered with penetrant that must soak for about 20 min.
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Then they are cleaned and sprayed with developer, which will draw out any penetrant remaining in cracks.
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Blacklight will then reveal any cracks. The blue areas is where the developer has not yet dried completely.
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here’s a photo of the hub under blacklight. Thankfully there were no cracks…

After cleaning everything, I applied some LPS2 to preserve the steel parts until assembly.
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
