For the last couple of weeks I have been working on the empennage paint.

First I prepared some of the parts that will be all red; the vertical stab, the stab fairing and the spinner assy.
First they got a coat of epoxy primer, then white base color and then the metallic red base.

Finally they got a layer of clear coat.

I’m very happy with the result, it looks even better in sunlight.. 😀

Next we worked on the horizontal stab and elevators.
These are a lot harder to do, as they will be in 3 colors.

First epoxy primer and white base coat…

After letting the base dry for about a day, we masked off for the red and silver patterns.

This is a shot just before we added clear coat.

Unfortunately, some of the red had gotten under the stabilizer masking, so we had to sand down the clear coat, redo the white areas, then add another clear coat.
I decided to paint the landing gear fairings at the same time.

The end result was pretty good!

I have also been working on the wing tips and ailerons. The tips have been sprayed with filler, then sanded together with the ailerons.
They are now ready for primer and paint, together with the wings.
