Deciding where to place the oil cooler was the hardest part of installing the oil cooler.
Once decided, it didn’t take long to make the mount.
I made an angle to support the cooler, so there is less change of cracks from vibrations. I then matchdrilled the angle and cooler doubler to the left rear baffle bulkhead.
The support angle..
After matchdrilling, I marked and cut the oil cooler opening.
After deburring and countersinking, I riveted some of the nutplates on, so I could mount the cooler temporarily.
The cooler mount seems pretty solid on the outboard flange, but I will need to add a support rod to the inboard side. Thats the next project! 🙂
