Today was a big day!
First, it was my 8th day in a row working on the plane. It’s been a long time since I’ve had such a progressive streak.
But more important, it was the day when I finally finished the last skin.
My friend Bent came by to help me rivet the rest.

All done. He also helped me install the canopy again.

It feels so great being at this point now; a few more things on the list, and I’m ready to move this baby to the airport. 😀

One of these items I actually did yesterday; the canopy secondary lock.
I diverted a little bit from the plans on this. I wanted to give it a stowed position, so I had another friend, Thomas, mill about 10mm of the fiberblock, to make room for a spring. The spring becomes quite solid when fully compressed, so it would still work well when locking the canopy, and allow the handle to be stowed when unlocked.

Drilled, countersunk and assembled.

Installed on the canopy, this it what it looks like stowed…

…and in locked position.

I decided to make a coverplate for the block and spring. I trimmed a piece of .025 sheet, will give it the bends next time I go to the airport.
